As young adults, we are often told that we need to start adulting. But what does that actually mean? It's different for everyone, but there are some universal truths. It takes a village to raise a child, and it takes a village to help young adults become independent, functioning adults.
There are many things that go into becoming an adult. You have to learn to take care of yourself, both physically and emotionally. You have to learn to manage your time and your money. You have to learn to be responsible. And you have to learn to live with others, compromise, and cooperate.

While parents and other family members are a big part of the village, there are also many other people who can help. Friends, teachers, and mentors can all be a part of the village. They can provide guidance, advice, and support.
The village is there to help you through the tough times and to celebrate the good times. It's a place to find comfort and to give comfort. It's a place to belong.

So don't be afraid to ask for help when you need it. Accept the help that is offered. And be grateful for the village that has been built around you.
Self-made person is a dangerous myth. Success is a team effort. It's time to celebrate those that helped in creating the success.
I grew up believing that the people that achieved the most in life were the ones that did it all by themselves. They were the ones that had grit, determination and resilience. They were the ones that pulled themselves up by their bootstraps and achieved the American Dream.
But what if this isn’t true?
What if we’ve been taught a dangerous and misleading myth?
What if the people who achieve the most in life are the ones that have the most help?
According to a study done at the University of Toronto, “The biggest discovery is that success is not a solo act. It may be a cliche to say that no one achieves anything alone, but this research provides clear evidence that the people who are the most successful in life have large social networks.”
This makes sense when you think about it. Billionaires like Bill Gates and Warren Buffet attribute their success to the help of others. Gates has said, “It’s not about ideas. It’s about making ideas happen.” And Buffet has said, “I’m not smart enough to come up with them myself.”
So if the self-made person is a myth, what does this mean for us?
It means that we need to start celebrating the people that helped us achieve our success. We need to start thanking our parents, our teachers, our mentors and our friends. We need to start building a community of people that can help us achieve our goals.
More folks need to celebrate working together. Remember to give the drummer some when tooting your horn.
The self-made person is a dangerous myth. Success is a team effort. And it’s time to celebrate those that helped in creating the success.
It Takes a Village to raise a child and it takes a village to adult. No one can do it alone and it's important to have a support system in place. Whether that's family, friends, or a professional network, it's crucial to have people to rely on when times get tough.
The fairy tale of the self-made man, woman, or person is hear throughout our lives. Numerous great people are used as a shining example of self-made. We are led to believe that if we work hard enough, we can achieve anything on our own. And while this may be true to some extent, it's not the whole story. Success is only possible with the help of others. Your community will help you thrive if you let them. They deserve to be celebrated for it.
We often celebrate those who achieve great things on their own. But we should also recognize the people who helped them get there. No one succeeds in life on their own. Life's a team sport. We all need someone to lean on sometimes. So don't be ashamed to ask for help when you need it. You're not weak for needing assistance - you're strong for seeking it out.
The truth is, we don't make it on their own.
Celebrate Your Village.
]]>The saying goes that it takes a village to raise a child. But what about when you're an adult? It's still true - you can't do it alone. You need help to thrive.
So let the world know: you had help to be a success. Thank your community, your family, and your friends. They helped you when you needed it, and now it's time to celebrate them.
Success is possible with the help of others - it's life's team sport. So give credit where credit is due, and remember that we all need each other to make it through this thing called life.
